Material of Humanitarian Aid Provided by Portugal Arrived in Sichuan Disaster Areas of China

It was reported by Secretary Office of Civil Defense of Portugal that the relief materials of humanitarian aid from Portuguese government contributed to the earthquake-stricken area in Sichuan arrived in China at 12:30 on June 3. The materials included tents, cotton blanket, moisture-resistant mats, tableware and concentrated food, with a total value of EUR100, 000. José Meidelusi, Secretary of the Portuguese Civil Defense, said that the donation was only the first batch of supplies, and the Portuguese government would call on non-governmental organizations to provide humanitarian assistance to Chinese disaster areas continuously; when it was necessary, they would send experts and technical staff coming to China to participate in the reconstruction work.
